Γίωρκα Λούκας

Ο Λούκας Γιώρκας γεννήθηκε στις 18 Οκτωβρίου 1986 στην Κύπρο. Από πολύ μικρή ηλικία φάνηκε η κλίση του προς τη μουσική. Σπούδασε κλασική κιθάρα και Βυζαντινή μουσική, ενώ μόλις στα 10 του χρόνια έγινε μέλος της Φιλαρμονικής ορχήστρας του Δήμου Αραδίππου, παίζοντας τρομπόνι.

Ως έφηβος, συμμετείχε σε πλήθος εκδηλώσεων με το φωνητικό σύνολο «VOX» και με τη χορωδία του Δήμου Λάρνακας, παρουσιάζοντας ως σολίστας το «Άξιον Εστί» του Μίκη Θεοδωράκη. Παράλληλα, συμμετείχε για αρκετά χρόνια στο χορευτικό συγκρότημα του Πολιτιστικού Ομίλου Ομόνοιας Αραδίππου.

Το 2002, σε ηλικία 16 ετών, κερδίζει το 1ο βραβείο στον 12ο Διαγωνισμό Σύνθεσης Κυπριακού Τραγουδιού του ΡΙΚ με το τραγούδι «Το Στοίσιημαν», σε στίχους του Χρηστάκη Χασάπη και μουσική του Θεόδωρου Σολομωνίδη.

Το 2008, αναδεικνύεται νικητής στο 1ο ελληνικό X-Factor, γεγονός που αποτέλεσε καθοριστική καμπή στην πορεία του. Λίγο αργότερα κυκλοφορεί τον πρώτο του δίσκο με τίτλο «Μαζί», ο οποίος γίνεται χρυσός σε πολύ σύντομο χρονικό διάστημα.

Το 2011, εκπροσωπεί την Ελλάδα στη Eurovision με το τραγούδι «Watch My Dance», σε μουσική του Γιάννη Χριστοδουλόπουλου και στίχους της Ελεάνας Βραχάλη, πλάι στον Stereo Mike, κατακτώντας την 7η θέση στον τελικό του διαγωνισμού.

Στα χρόνια που ακολουθούν, κυκλοφορεί digital singles σε συνεργασία με κορυφαίους δημιουργούς, όπως ο Αντώνης Βαρδής, ο Γιώργος Μουκίδης, ο Φοίβος, η Όλγα Βλαχοπούλου κ.ά., ενώ συνεχίζει τις live εμφανίσεις του στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό.

Στην ηλικία των 28 ετών, γράφει και εμπνέεται την ταινία μικρού μήκους «Το Μυστικό της Νίκης», με θέμα την πρόληψη της παιδικής σεξουαλικής κακοποίησης, η οποία εντάσσεται στην καμπάνια «Ένα στα Πέντε» του Συμβουλίου της Ευρώπης. Η ταινία μεταγλωττίζεται σε τρεις γλώσσες, διανέμεται σε προσφυγικά κέντρα, και υιοθετείται ως εργαλείο ενημέρωσης από το Υπουργείο Παιδείας του Λουξεμβούργου. Επιπλέον, κατατάσσεται στις καλύτερες ευρωπαϊκές πρακτικές για το 2014.Το 2018 κυκλοφορεί το δεύτερο επεισόδιο της σειράς με τίτλο «Η Περιπέτεια του Βίκτωρα».

Loukas Giorkas was born on October 18, 1986, in Cyprus. From a very young age, he showed a strong inclination toward music. He studied classical guitar and Byzantine music, and at the age of just 10, he became a member of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Aradippou, playing the trombone.

As a teenager, he participated in numerous events with the vocal ensemble “VOX” and the Choir of the Municipality of Larnaca, performing as a soloist in Mikis Theodorakis’ “Axion Esti”. At the same time, he was also an active member for several years in the folk dance group of the Cultural Association Omonia Aradippou.

In 2002, at the age of 16, he won 1st prize at the 12th Cyprus Song Composition Contest organized by Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (RIK) with the song “To Stoisiman”, written by poet Christakis Hasapis and composed by Theodoros Solomonides.

In 2008, he rose to fame as the winner of the 1st season of the Greek X-Factor, a defining moment in his career. Shortly after, he released his debut album titled “Mazi”, which quickly achieved gold status.

In 2011, he represented Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Watch My Dance”, composed by Giannis Christodoulopoulos with lyrics by Eleana Vrahali, alongside Stereo Mike, securing an impressive 7th place in the Grand Final.

In the following years, he released digital singles, collaborating with some of the most renowned contemporary Greek composers, such as Antonis Vardis, Giorgos Moukidis, Foivos, Olga Vlachopoulou, among others. At the same time, he continued to perform live concerts throughout Greece and abroad.

At the age of 28, he wrote and created the short film “The Secret of Niki”, which focuses on preventing child sexual abuse. The film became part of the “One in Five” campaign of the Council of Europe, was translated into three different languages, distributed to refugee camps, and was adopted as an educational tool by the Ministry of Education of Luxembourg. It was also recognized as one of the best practices in Europe for 2014.

In 2018, he released the second episode of the series, titled “Victor’s Adventure”.
