Mihalis Hatzigiannis is one of the most popular Greek artists of all time, with a career spanning more than three decades.
He studied Music at the National Conservatory of Cyprus and the Royal Academy of Music in London, UK where he earned a diploma in piano and guitar.
In 1994 he took part in the talent competition “Afetiries” where he emerged victorious out of 1,000 competitors. That same year he also took part in the Pan-Cypriot Music Competition with the song “I Diki Mou Istoria” where he also took home the first prize.
In 1998 he was selected to represent Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest held in Birmingham. On the night he placed 11th impressing European audiences with a passionate vocal performance.
His first studio album came in March 2000 with the release of the double platinum “Paraxeni Giorti”. The title track, as well as two more singles all garnered success with the song “Mono Sta Onira” staying at the top of the Greek radio charts for several weeks.
2002 saw the release of his sophomore album “KrifoFili” which was eventually certified 3x platinum and included a string of hit singles. That same year he received three awards at the prestigious Arion Awards while in 2004 he released another multiplatinum album “Akatalili Skini” and also made an appearance at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Athens.
Four more studio albums followed with MihalisHatzigiannis closing the decade on a high as the recipient of the special “Best Selling Artist of the Decade” award from his record label Universal for sales exceeding 3.5 million units.
Mihalis remained active in the following years releasing more studio and unplugged albums. In 2020 he released two singles, “Horevo” and “Min Argis”. “Horevo” became one of the most popular songs of the year reaching and remaining at the top of radio playlists for 10 weeks while “Min Argis” became the most successful radio song of 2021 in his native Cyprus. MihalisHatzigiannis emerged as the only artist who had three different songs in the radio top20 of the year.
In 2022 he was selected as an honorary act in the popular Madwalk Ceremony while the TV show “Chart Show” announced him as the most successful Greek composing artist of the last 25 years.
