Nikos Vertis is one of the most successful and influential Greek artists of the modern era. With a career spanning over two decades, he has established himself as one of the most beloved Laïko (popular folk) performers both in Greece and internationally.
Born in Thessaloniki, he began singing in local music venues and clubs, quickly gaining attention for his distinctive voice and powerful stage presence. In the summer of 2002, his first major breakthrough came through appearances at the Rodon club, paving the way for his move to Athens and his rise to national stardom.
In 2003, he signed with Universal Music Greece and released his debut album Poly Apotoma Vradyazei, featuring major hits like:
“Asteri Mou,” “An Fygeis,” “San Trellos Se Agapao,” and the title track “Poly Apotoma Vradyazei”.
The album also included two duets with Peggy Zina – “Eimaste Choria” and “Chanomaste” – both of which received strong radio play.
That same year, he was awarded “Best New Artist” at the Arion Music Awards, and in 2004, he was named “Best Laïko Singer” following the release of his second album Pame Psychi Mou.
His third studio album, Pos Perno Ta Vradia Monos (2005), went platinum, featuring beloved tracks such as:
“Pes To Mou Ksana,” “Poia Eisai,” “Pos Na To Eksigiso,” “Den Se Niazei” and “Kapote Tha Deis.”
On stage, Nikos Vertis has become a dynamic live performer, with a series of sold-out residencies at Posidonio. His fourth studio album (2008) went double platinum, followed by a world tour of 20 concerts across the USA, Canada, Europe, and the UK.
As his career expanded, he collaborated with international artists such as Amir on the track “Si on n’aime qu’une fois.” In 2015, he signed with Heaven Music, and in 2021, he released “S’ Agapo”, which reached over 4 million streams on YouTube and radio.
In summer 2023, Nikos Vertis celebrated 20 years in music with a series of sold-out anniversary shows, while his winter residency in Athens continued to draw packed audiences.
In the digital landscape, he is the most followed Greek artist with an independent YouTube channel, boasting nearly 1 million subscribers and over 1 billion total views.
His video “An Eisai Ena Asteri” became the first Greek music video to surpass 100 million views, and his hit “Thelo Na Me Nioseis” broke records with over 200 million views.
He has performed live for over 300,000 fans worldwide, on the stages of **iconic venues.
