Θέμης Αδαμαντίδης

Themis Adamantidis was born in Kaisariani in 1957 but spent his early childhood in South Africa before returning to Greece in 1972. That same year he started performing live on stage in Athens, appearing next to notable singers like Anna Hrisafi and Spiros Xanthopoulos. He then moved to Sweden where he also performed for the buzzing Greek community there.

After a successful appearance on the TV talent show “Na I Efkeria” where he took home the first prize with the song “Tha Me Thimithis”, in 1980 he released his debut studio album titled “Agapise Me” which became an instant hit, selling more than 300,00 copies. Themis’ star was on the rise and a string of hit songs followed with “I Nihta Mirizei Giasemi”, “Ponane Osi Agapane” and others solidifying him as one of the top laiko performers in the country.

In 1999 the song “Ma Pou Na Pao” re-introduced him to the public, while zeimbekika hits like “I Vomvarismeni Politia”, “Ine Fonias o Horismos”, “Hartina Onira” and “Hartaetos” maintained his popularity. In 2013 he scored another landmark success with the song “Stin Kardia” which has amassed more than 38 million views on YouTube. Themis also broadened his repertoire with unexpected, left-field duets with artists like KINGS and Vasilis Papakonstantinou.

In total, Themis Adamantidis has released 23 albums in a storied career which continues to impress in his fifth decade as a recording artist.
